My name is Lindsay Monal, I’m a Yoga Teacher, Meditation Guide, and Reiki Master who helps people cultivate more compassionate, restful, and joyful lives. Based in New Jersey, on native Munsee Lenape land, I weave my passions for creative movement, mindfulness practices, and energy work into virtual and in person sessions for beautiful people, just like you!

My hope is that through sharing the practices that have helped me on my journey, I can hold space for you as you navigate yours. In my classes and sessions, I’ll work to create a nurturing environment where you can experience the wonder of your body and the intelligence of your breath.

As your guide, my wish is that you leave sessions feeling more calm, joyful, and whole.

I’ve known about the power of physical movement and spiritual practice since I was a kid.

As a first generation American, and self-defined perfectionist, my early life was filled with anxiety that showed up in my sleep and in a pressure to prove myself in all areas of my life. Stepping onto a yoga mat in high school changed me forever.

When I found yoga, I was focused on healing my knee after a volleyball injury, increasing my flexibility, and mastering the shapes. The benefits of the physical practice kept me coming back, but as I progressed I noticed changes in my mood, my stress levels, and my mindset that continued even after I left those classes.

The moment that changed my relationship with yoga was when I saw a flyer on the bulletin board at the studio that said “Learn how and why yoga works”.

I needed to know, so I signed up for that weekend long trauma informed yoga training, knowing nothing of what was to come.

Throughout the weekend we studied the nervous system, and practiced techniques on how to make our classes more accessible to people who have experienced trauma, like veterans, individuals who have struggled with disordered eating, and survivors of domestic and sexual abuse.

And in that training, I fell asleep on the hard wood floor. I was guided through my first yoga nidra, a sleep meditation practice, and the effects were palpable.

It was the first time I allowed myself to fully surrender, to be completely supported, to release the anxiety I held onto so tightly, and to release the need to constantly be in control.

I felt so different afterward that I knew I had to learn more, and share this practice with others.

That’s when Smiling in Savasana was born.
